SUMMARY:Indigenous Day 2K17
DESCRIPTION:Burn the Borders at Simon Fraser University. I will be here as a vendor with my chai. Please read below to learn more about the event. Get some cups of chai to keep you going through the day. \n“On September 28th 2017 the First Nation Student Association will be hosting our annual event Indigenous Day. This year our theme is Burn the Borders which symbolizes and breaks down barriers of the colonial constructs Indigenous people face today. We are not under a “Single Story” we are from different nations and have different aspects to what makes us Indigenous. This is to celebrate our differences as Indigenous people and to have it recognized who we are and where we come from. As Indigenous students we hold a responsibility to take care of our communities and by hosting this event we want to honor Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are proud to have this event on the Unceded Territories of the Tsleil-Waututh\, Skxwu’7mesh\, Musqueam\, and Kwikwetlem Nations. \n\nThis year we will have various performances that include spoken word\, drumming and dancing\, and modern Indigenous music.\nWe will have live artisans that will be showcasing their talents such as carving and stone knapping\, and workshops through out the day.\nVendors and artisans will be set up Convocation Mall through out the day.\n \n
