This “Pudina” or Mint tea is a popular drink growing up in India with the Parsi Community. Bombay is home to a large Zorastrian community. My favourite thing to do when I return home is to visit my Parsi neighbours for my daily tea made with fragrant fresh spearmint & lemongrass freshly cut from the garden. There, they make it with black tea. Here we offer a caffeine free option with Rooibos tea. Sweet and soothing. It is a also great summer chai, served chilled with ice!

Description

Rooibos Spearmint Lemongrass is another special blend from my collection of organic teas. This fresh and delightful tea is a refreshing infusion of organic Red Rooibos along with herbs like Lemongrass and Spearmint. Red Rooibos, also known as red bush or red tea comes from South Africa and is completely caffeine-free. The Lemongrass in this tea mix gives it a light and pleasant lemony flavour. Taste a soft,  mint flavour with every sip of my Rooibos Spearmint Lemongrass. The ingredients in this tea are also known to help the body get rid of toxins so if you are looking for a detox tea, my Rooibos Spearmint Lemongrass may be the perfect choice for you. Sweeten this Red Rooibos tea spearmint and lemongrass tea with unrefined sugar or honey. You can also enjoy an iced cup of this refreshing beverage on a hot summer day.

An interesting fact about Rooibos Tea:

The narrow belt along the West Coast of South Africa is the only place in the world where Rooibos tea grows. It is also one of the world’s six Plant Kingdoms. The Mediterranean climate along with ideal temperatures and adequate rainfall and sunshine makes it favourable for Rooibos to be cultivated. Besides this, the sandy slopes and pleasant valleys of the Cedarberg Mountain Range also provide the perfect habitat for Rooibos cultivation.

Seriously the best tea ever. I absolutely love it.

I have been a big fan of Indian cuisine for many years now, so Trudy Ann’s very colorful, well written book of authentic recipes and helpful cooking tips is especially Interesting to me. Also, I am essentially a vegetarian so the many spicy dishes described therein based on Lentils, whole grains, nutritious seeds and fresh vegetables naturally resonate with me. Incidentally, I really enjoy a good, robust cup of tea and for almost five years now the Assam variety has been my favorite. When I learned that Trudy Ann’s Bombay Masala Chai is created with an Assam base, I was sold. That it is also organically grown in the Assam region of India is certainly an added plus.

I highly recommend Trudy Ann’s Masala Kitchen cookbook to all. With its inclusion of beautiful family portraits and historical narrative it is an engaging work of literature and art.

I love this Tea! A friend of mine and myself were at the Christmas Kringle Craft Fair in Nanaimo and we stumbled upon Trudy Ann’s stand. She let us try a ton of samples of her products, but in my opinion this one and the Turmeric Ginger Tonic were by far the best. the majority of her tea’s are full of energy even in the smallest amounts, and they’re delicious with the tiniest of sips, but this tea. This tea is truly calming. As you take a sip you can taste that hint of lemongrass, allowing your mouth and throat to relax. Then the spearmint slowly seeps in to fill your mouth with vibrant colour, almost like a blooming flower of happiness. I highly recommend this tea for peaceful mornings of spring or fall, and when you’re having a rough day and need a little cheering up.
